Mission Trips

 
Let us know about your mission trips. In an effort to coordinate the cooperative missions efforts of the churches in South Metro Baptist Association we would like to list upcoming mission trips at your church that are open to participation by members of other churches in our association. Please send the date, destination and type of work/outreach to sondra@southmetrobaptist.org. You can also call the SMBA office at 770.478.1635. Below are several mission trips available to members of churches in the SMBA.

First Baptist Church Fayetteville
  • Channahon, Illinois, September 16-25.
FBC Fayetteville will travel to Channahon, Illinois to assist FBC Channahon in completing their new worship facility and school. They will also conduct a children's event after school and a ladies' bible study. Cost is $275 (includes motor coach, motel, meals). For information call 770.461.8378.

Missions Roundtable at Harp's Crossing Baptist
Save the Date! Thursday, Dec. 2 from 9 am to 1 pm. The International Missions Board will be sponsoring a Missions Roundtable for a time of prayer, exchanging best practices and building relationships to encourage believers to be "on mission with Him." A hot lunch will be provided. For information click here to email Keith Turner. Topics will include:

  • How does your church fund its' missions program?
  • What's the best missions conference or celebration you ever put together and what made it the best?
  • Who's the best main speaker from one of your missions conferences or celebration that you have ever heard and how would we get him to speak at our churches?
  • Do you have a mission team or committee at your church? How many people do you have on your mission team or committee? How is it set up?
  • do you have a mission manual and how detailed is it?
  • How do you keep missions in front of your people all year round?
  • Do you have a dedicated mission room?
  • How often do you have a missions conference or celebration ahd how many missionaries do you bing in?
  • How many partnerships are you engaged with and in what parts of the world? How often do you evaluate them?
  • How many trips in any given year would your church take internationally and what kind of training do you give your team members before they go?
Persons attending are encouraged to bring 25 of your best mission brochures, flyers, bulletin inserts and any other materials that you know have worked for you to share with others.

Sub-Sahara Africa Base Camp Training
Sept. 16-17, (Thursday: 8 am to 4 pm, Friday, 8:30 am - 4 pm). First Baptist Bainbridge, 401 E. Shotwell St., Bainbridge, GA. Cost is $30 per person which covers print materials, 3 meals and snacks. Deadline to register is Sept. 10. Payment required at arrival. Click here to register.
Base Camp is an interactive training which brings churches together who share a common interest in sub-Sahara Africa. The training will provide ideas and tools for planting churches among your people group. Discussion includes pre-entry, person of peace issues, participative Bible study methods, persecution and discipling. Workshop seminars include trip planning, evangelism, discipleship training, cultural insights and more. Ministers and lay leaders from engaging and partnering church who are planning involvement or are currently involved in sub-Sahara Africa should attend.
